A-Kon 2008

Posted: 06/05/2008

This past weekend, a crew of VP/DFVP provided video at the large Anime convention, A-KON, in downtown Dallas. Over 8,000 people attended the event. A-KON featured several concerts including the North American debut of the Japanese Rock band Versailles. The event also included The Guinness Book World Record attempt for the most people in video game character costumes. The record was broken with about 697 people!

Headed by alumni Kevin Hahn '07 (part of the World Record crowd), and faculty members Jaime Fowler, Lysa Ausmus, and Nathaniel Campbell, the crew shot energy-packed events ranging from creative Costume Plays (Cosplay) to concerts.

The following students volunteered and emerged from the world of Anime: alumni Nina Alcazar '07, Tori Cornuaud, Calvin Renji, Allison Ransom, Jenille Jackson, Justin Pfannenstiel, Bryan Childs, Christopher Gully, Danny Tibbs, Geoff Blair, Shane Connolly, Andre Delgado, Jerry Chen, and Anthony Hawkins.

The executive staff of A-KON was impressed by the crew of the VP/DFVP students. This was the second year that the Art Institute of Dallas provided multi-cam video. It was broadcast on the Sheraton Hotel's closed network, and played on the main programming room's jumbo screen. Great job!
