Students to the RESCUE

On May 17, Animal Rescue of Texas (ART) hosted its third-annual Art to the Rescue Soiree. The event included a silent auction benefiting ART, which aims to find homes for sheltered animals.
Graphic Design students in David Lipe's class designed the invitations and brochures, and students in Charla Blake's ID4002 ID Studio VIII: Specialty class (and even some alumni:Kevin Brown, Laura Reta, Sean Davies, Nicholas Hawkins, and Heather Lewis) designed the entire layout of the space, a huge 25,000-foot photography studio located in the design district.
The following Interior Design students even came and volunteered the night of the event: Beth Brown, Andrea Carr, Dominic Duronio, Laura Eddins, Cat Esquivel, Ashley Foland, Jennifer Mills-Hamm, Sasha Hollingworth, Leticia Martinez, Jimmy McDaniels, Gisela Reyes, Kasey Robinson, Krysta Shoults, Bethamy Stone, Lauren Szymarek, Brittany Taylor, Kari Tidwell, Angele Towns, Tara Wehmeyer, Audrey Young. and Lacey Carter (who isn’t in the class, but came Friday night, Saturday, and Saturday night just to support her peers!)
The ID students got $100 donated from Sam’s Club (thanks to student Jimmy McDaniels who works there) towards the cost of their design idea for the event, and Sasha (one of the students) also auctioned off a portion of her time OR a custom mural of a certain size at the event.
It was even more of a school affair: Karen Garrett donated a piece of art to the silent auction, and Melynda Seaton assisted with the curating, working with the students on their design idea and the hanging of the art.
Here are the student volunteers at the event:
Big thanks to David Lipe and Charla Blake (pictured below, with chairperson Paula Leone)!
