Chef Pilat Shows his Holiday Spirit
Posted: 12/10/2007
Chef Steve Pilat and his student volunteers made over 750 gingerbread cookies for NorthPark Center's Camp Gingerbread on December 8 and 9. This was no cake walk - each cookie was a foot tall, and each batch weighed 35 pounds! The two-day event at Macy's Court was created to give children ages 4 and up the opportunity to assemble and decorate their very own gingerbread cookie. Proceeds benefit Shared Housing, which offers housing options and supportive services to critically as-risk populations -- older adults, single parents with young children and the homeless -- to foster independence, empowerment and self-worth.
On Saturday, December 15, Chef Pilat and some of his students sold holiday goodies at NorthPark Center's Treats of Christmas! Located outside of Neiman Marcus at NorthPark Center, Treats of Christmas offers hand-made cakes, pies, cookies and other confectionery delights created by premier local chefs. The Texas Chefs Association donates these delicious treats, and all proceeds benefit the North Texas Food Bank - Operation Front Line, an educational program promoting nutrition, budgeting and cooking offered to clients of Dallas-area non-profit agencies.
